The Brewhouse, Anhcorage, Alaska

For those who do not know, I have created a nice little hobby in checking out local breweries during my travels. The Glacier Brewhouse was of course one of my stops during my stay in Anchorage. This is a fun restaurant/brewery and it was packed on a random Tuesday evening so beware that you may have a slight wait before you sit for dinner. Or, you can choose my option and head right to the bar. It is first come, first serve and very European in style on just joining anyone along the long tables.

I ordered the Alder-Grilled Wild Alaskan Salmon for a nice dinner and washed it down with the Brewhouse's very own Brewhouse Blonde. (I later tried their Amber Ale.) The Blonde is very smooth and refreshing--a perfect compliment to the salmon. The Amber Ale is also one to try when you venture to the Brewhouse. The Amber Ale depicts a perfect blend of English perfection as the malty flavor hits your tongue. I thoroughly enjoyed both beers. I do have to add that they each had an average of 5.0% alcohol content which is nice in comparison for other craft beers, but is a little more than what is consumed by some of my Bud Light friends.
TIDBIT:
When I ordered my souvenier pint glass--they give you a choice of a traditional logo or you get to pick different logos between each of their beer. How cool is that! For example, the logo for the Amber Ale is one of the glasses you can buy. I chose the traditional logo to keep up with my local brewery pint glass theme, but I thought that having the option between all of their logos was a very creative idea.
A FUNNY STORY:
As I was enjoying my dinner and refreshing drinks, I was accompanied by two German gentleman. Remember I said when you go to the bar area, you basically share tables with people. We ended up introducing ourselves and I was able to practice some of what I remember from German Class. Boy do I ever need to practice--I forgot too many words.
As I am always accused of making friends everywhere I go, which is not a bad accusation to say the least. We quickly became friends and had a blast speaking with one another in chopped up English and chopped up German. The two of them were on holiday traveling all over Alaska! Who would of thought I would run into two Germans in Alaska and be able to somewhat hold a conversation! They really enjoyed the beer as well. Before the evening closed they challenged me to go all over Germany and collect glasses from their local Breweries. Ha. I told them that I would need a new house to hold that many pint glasses, besides they will laugh at my pint and give me a stein! I challenged them to go to the Smokey Mountains. One of the gentlemen is a photographer by hobby and loves to take nature shots. Either way, I thoroughly enjoyed speaking with my German friends.
Auf wiedersehen!
